THE GROUND SYSTEM

Flight begins
on the ground.

The winch, cable path and power connections form the other half of a tethered aircraft. A compact ground assembly manages the connection while the aircraft takes its vantage point above.

SYSTEM DESIGN

Define the mission

Start with the operating environment, payload requirements, and the information the mission needs. These decisions shape the aircraft architecture.

  • Define the area, duration and operating conditions.
  • Identify the sensor, payload and data the team needs.
  • Agree on deployment, recovery and operator requirements.

PROTOTYPING

Build. Integrate. Refine.

Develop the airframe and integrate power, propulsion, flight control, and payload systems. Rapid prototyping makes the design tangible.

  • Build a configuration around the mission brief.
  • Integrate aircraft, ground equipment and control software.
  • Review weight, access and serviceability as one system.

FIELD TESTING

Take it to the field

Evaluate the integrated system in the operational field. Observe how the hardware and control architecture perform together.

  • Check preparation and deployment with the operator.
  • Record flight behaviour, link quality and payload output.
  • Compare observed results with the original mission brief.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

Close the loop

Use field observations to guide the next engineering iteration. Refine the platform around the practical needs of its operators.

  • Review logs and operator feedback after each trial.
  • Resolve issues in hardware, software or workflow.
  • Retest changes before the next operational use.

ENGINEERING INDEPENDENCE

Know the system.
Own the decisions.

Discover the thinking behind KapYah

KapYah’s work centres on UAV development and manufacturing in India. Indigenous system architecture, custom engineering, and field-led iteration connect the first design decisions to the complete aircraft.

The purpose is practical: develop aerial platforms around local operating needs and retain the knowledge to adapt them as those needs change.
